Council Leader announces Cabinet changes
Friday, August 10, 2018The Leader of Wyre Forest District Council, Councillor Marcus Hart, earlier today (Friday 10 August) informed councillors of changes that he is making to portfolios within his Cabinet.
Councillor Chris Rogers is assuming most of the portfolio for Economic Regeneration and Planning which was previously held by Councillor Ian Hardiman. Councillor Hardiman replaces Councillor Rogers as Cabinet Member for Housing, Health and Well-being and remains Deputy Leader. In addition, Councillor Hardiman retains responsibility for the local development plan.
Councillor Hart said “Councillor Hardiman’s portfolio has been exceptionally busy over the last 12 months, and I would like to pay tribute to what he has achieved in that time. We are entering a critical phase with the local development plan, and the pre-submission version is expected to be published for consultation later in 2018. I have therefore adjusted the portfolios to allow him the time that he needs to devote to leading this important work.”
“Our capital portfolio fund has been successfully launched under Ian’s oversight. The processes and policies have been established on a sound footing and we are regularly considering proposals for investments to generate revenue to help support local services. I am pleased to confirm that Councillor Nathan Desmond will now take on this area of responsibility.”
Councillor Hart was elected as Leader of the Council in May 2015 for the period to May 2019. The full membership and portfolios of the Cabinet with effect from 10 August is as follows:
Councillor Ian Hardiman, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing, Health and Well-being
Councillor Nathan Desmond, Cabinet Member for Resources
Councillor Juliet Smith, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Community Protection
Councillor Rebecca Vale, Cabinet Member for Operational Services
Councillor Chris Rogers, Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration and Planning
The portfolios of Cabinet members are set out in the attached table. There are no changes to the portfolios of Councillors Hart, Smith and Vale.
The next meeting of the Cabinet will be held at 6pm on Wednesday 19 September 2018 and will be open to the public. The meeting will also be webcast and can be viewed at www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk
